Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, images, and sensations (obsessions) that drive them to do something over and over (compulsions). Often the person carries out the compulsions to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsessions. Although some people with OCD realize that their obsessions are exaggerated or unreasonable, they feel they can't control them.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by chronic and excessive worry and tension, even when there is little or nothing to provoke the anxiety. People with GAD may experience a range of symptoms including exaggerated worry and stress about routine life events, persistent and excessive anxiety about physical symptoms, and an overall feeling of restless or keyed up. GAD can have a significant impact on a person's ability to function in daily life and can be very distressing.

Panic Disorder

Panic disorder is characterized by unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear accompanied by physical symptoms that may include chest pain, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, or abdominal distress. These episodes of fear often occur for no apparent reason and may be triggered by a variety of stimuli.

Social Anxiety Disorder

Social anxiety disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that causes people to feel extremely nervous and anxious in social situations. People with social anxiety disorder may have difficulty talking to people, attending social events, or even just going out in public. They may worry about being judged by others or feeling embarrassed or humiliated. These feelings can cause people with social anxiety disorder to avoid social situations altogether.

Specific Phobia

A phobia is an intense, irrational fear of something that poses no real danger. People with phobias go to great lengths to avoid the things they fear. Phobias can be categorized into three types: animal phobias, natural environment phobias, and situational phobias.

Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors

Body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) are a group of disorders that involve compulsively damaging or manipulating parts of one's body. The most common BFRBs are trichotillomania (hair-pulling) and skin-picking, but the term can also refer to disorders like nail-biting and cheek-biting. People with BFRBs often report feeling immense shame and embarrassment about their behaviors, as well as feeling like they cannot control them.

Health Anxiety

Health anxiety is characterized by excessive worry about one's health. Individuals with health anxiety may fixate on specific health concerns and believe that they are in imminent danger of contracting a serious illness. They may also believe that minor physical symptoms are indicative of a major health problem.
